In 2020, chemical end products had the largest share of the shipment value of the Japanese chemical industry, accounting for over 57 percent. End products included oils and fats, soap, paints, medicine, agriculture chemicals, cosmetics, and other chemical end products. The chemical industry was Japan's second largest manufacturing industry behind the transportation machinery industry.
