Decline in global biodiversity 1970-2018, by region
Animal populations around the world have fallen an average of 69 percent since 1970. The most dramatic decline has been experienced in Latin America and the Caribbean, where the Living Planet Index (LPI) dropped by 94 percent between 1970 and 2018.
