Japan: number of participants at international conferences 2022

In 2022, there were roughly 326 thousand participants at international conferences held in Japan. Most visitors were of Japanese nationality, while around 34 thousand visitors came from foreign countries. The figures increased noticeably compared to the preceding year. The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism had devised and followed a strategy to actively promote conferences, conventions and exhibitions to increase foreign tourism and travel to Japan.
