Number of asylum seekers in primary school in Norway 2013-2023

Following the high number of asylum seekers arriving in Norway in 2015, the number of asylum seekers in primary school doubled in the school year 2016/17 compared to the previous one. Since then, the number of asylum seekers in Norwegian primary schools decreased steadily, dropping below 500 in 2021/22. However, the number increased to nearly 1,800 in 2022/23, which much be seen in relation with the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
