According to a report published by PPRO, as of 2022, 49 percent of the e-commerce transactions in Singapore were paid for using local card schemes. With the banked population reaching just under 100 percent of Singapore's total population in the same period, card payments may be considered as more convenient and safer than in-cash payments by most Singaporeans.
