Monthly average prices for mullet fish in Egypt 2019-2023
As of May 2023, the monthly average price of mullet fish in Egypt amounted to 122.16 Egyptian pounds (3.95 U.S. dollars) per kilogram. This represented an increase of 13.07 percent compared to the previous month. Egyptians consume mullet after fermenting, salting and drying it. Locally, the fish is called "feseekh" and is mainly consumed in "Sham El-Nessim" holiday, which dates back to ancient Egypt. Moreover, the holiday could be a possible explanation for the increase in prices in April.
