Share of new farmers in agriculture industry in Japan 2018, by gender
In 2018, the lion's share of new farmers entering the agriculture industry in Japan, around 76 percent, were men. One of the striking features of Japanese agriculture is the shortage of farmland with only around 20 percent of Japan's land being suitable for cultivation.
