Japan: importance of COVID-19 countermeasure implementation for tourists by destination 2020

In an online survey, conducted in June 2020, 76 percent of respondents stated that COVID-19 countermeasure implementation for restaurants was important to them in their consideration to visit Japan for tourism. Asian respondents had in general higher expectations regarding COVID-19 countermeasures, with responses for each destination averaging 10 to 15 percentage points higher than was the case for their counterparts from Australia, Europe and the United States.

Target respondents were women and men aged 20 to 59, with experience in foreign travel from Asian and European countries, as well as the U.S. and Australia.
