Number of students in secondary schools in Algeria 2015-2020, by gender

In the 2019/2020 school year, around 1.26 million students attended secondary school in Algeria, increasing compared to the previous year. Between 2015/2016 and 2019/2020, students in secondary education in Algeria decreased by around 116,000. In the same period, the number of female students always exceeded that of boys.

The secondary school in Algeria follows middle school. It corresponds to a three-year education cycle which ends with the obtaining of the high school diploma (baccalauréat).
