In the fiscal year 2021, the Japanese manufacturing sector consumed about 1.78 thousand petajoules of energy that was generated by oil. Oil constituted the largest energy source for the manufacturing sector. In the same fiscal year, manufacturing was the leading sector in terms of energy consumption in Japan.
