Contribution of tourism spending to Panamanian GDP 2010-2021, by type
Inbound tourism expenditure represented in 2021 around 5.7 percent of Panama's gross domestic product (GDP), rising from 3.4 percent in the previous year, according to the UNWTO. Meanwhile, outbound tourism expenditure was equivalent to around 1.3 percent of the country's GDP that year.
