Unit cost of recycling in Japan 2023, by packaging
In 2023, the unit cost of recycling plastic packaging in Japan amounted to 58 Japanese yen per kilogram, making up the largest recycling costs for packaging. In Japan, plastic, glass, paper, and PET bottles are collected and recycled, but the recycling rate of the total waste has remained at around 20 percent throughout the past decade.
