Share of ad spending of presidential campaigns on FB and IG 2020, by age
Considering the 2020 presidential election campaign in the United States and its social media advertising, a study conducted between June and September 2020 found that the campaign run by the Republican party targeted older age groups, with 22.3 percent of spending on Facebook and Instagram ads being aimed at 55 to 64 years old voters and another 22 percent of spending targeting an audience aged 65 and older. The opposing campaign run by the Democratic party however targeted 20.3 percent of its social media ad spending towards 35 to 44 years old voters.
