Socio-economic inequalities can be observed in different sectors across Latin America and the Caribbean, although the level of these inequalities varies, not only from one area to another, but also between countries. Ownership of technological devices by students is no exception. According to data retrieved by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018, in all Latin American and Caribbean countries analyzed,
the share of 15 year-old pupils with tablets at home differed by at least 28 percentage points between the bottom and top quartiles. The difference between these two groups added up to as much as 65 percentage points in Mexico, the analized country with the highest share of 15 year-old students in the top quartile with a tablet at home.
