unemployment rate in Brazil has experienced a continual increase throughout 2020, a result mostly related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. As of November 2020, the northeast region registered the largest growth in unemployment. At that point in time, unemployment in the northeast had increased by 70 percent, in comparison to the beginning of May. Meanwhile, the country's south region had the lowest growth in unemployed population during the period.
