Number of active and registered mobile money accounts in West Africa 2016-2020
In 2020, the number of registered mobile money accounts in West Africa added up to 198 million. As of the same year, there were 47 million active accounts in the country. Moreover, while the number of registered accounts shows a significant growth from the previous year, that of active accounts reduced. Overall, West Africa accounted for 35 percent of all mobile money registrations in sub-Saharan Africa in 2019.
