In 2020, while there were almost as many women as men in the rural areas in Vietnam, urban areas had 2.5 males fewer per hundred females. With generally slight fluctuations, a similar distribution of genders within the population could be observed in the years before. In general, the gender ratio among the rural population was slightly more balanced than that of the urban population.
