The total number of cruise passengers in Portugal rose by 49 percent in 2023 to around 1.7 million. In 2018, the number of cruise travelers embarking, disembarking, or in transit in the European country had peaked at more than 1.3 million, making the value registered in 2022 still 22.2 percent inferior. However, the year 2023 broke all previous records, with the highest values recorded in the period considered.
