In a survey conducted in June and July 2022 regarding Japan's most attractive prefectures, Hokkaido achieved the highest score with 73.3 points. Hokkaido was chosen as Japan's most attractive prefecture for the 14th consecutive time.

Opinions about the attractivity of different locations were gained through the survey question: "How attractive do you find this location?" in which respondents had five answer possibilities, ranging from "really unattractive" to "very attractive".
From the possible five answer options, only the first two, namely "very attractive" and "quite attractive" were used when calculating the score.
Formula: A + 0.5 x B, where A is the percentage of "very attractive" respondents, and B is the percentage of "quite attractive" respondents.
