McClatchy saw a decline in newspaper digital advertising revenue between 2019 and 2020 reaching 37 percent. Between the second quarter of 2019 and 2020 its ad revenue in the United States fell from 31 million to 19.7 million U.S. dollars. In comparison Lee's ad revenue dropped by 25 percent in the measure period, from 25 to 19 million dollars.
