Almost three quarters of cyber insurance claims between 2013 and 2019 involved an insuring clause related to breach incident response and crisis management, according to an analysis conducted in 2020. The second-most common insuring clause related to data privacy and privacy breaches, followed by cyber extortion. Generally, cyber insurance is designed to protect businesses from risks arising from the use of data and technology in business operations.
