The United States has pledged close to 240 billion U.S. dollars to helping the energy industry recover from the coronavirus pandemic, more than any other country. As of June 2022, some 102.45 billion U.S. dollars is conditional aid directed at clean energy sources such as solar PV and wind. By comparison, the fossil fuel industry received nearly 80 billion U.S. dollars in unconditional aid. Most public money for the global energy industry is directed towards fossil fuel-affiliated industries.
