Smoking status of population in Russia 2020

Approximately one third of the Russian population smoked as of September 2020. However, smoking was becoming less popular in the country, as the share of smokers decreased by five percent over the observed period. That trend was especially noticeable among men.

The survey was conducted on with a representative sample of urban and rural population 137 localities and 50 subjects of Russia. Survey characteristics refer to the latest survey.

The source specified that due to the low statistical content of some of the groups described, these descriptions and conclusions should be considered primarily as an indication of trends in ongoing changes in smoking practices among Russian population.
