Services, including tourism, is the main economic sector in the Dominican Republic based on its gross domestic product (GDP). Service activities accounted for roughly 60 percent of GDP in 2021. The industry sector, in turn, has increased its contribution by approximately 150 percent between 2010 and 2021, reaching 1.69 trillion Dominican pesos that last year.
