As of 2020, a survey was conducted among Italian consumers aiming at investigating the food wasted over the previous month. The survey results showed that 36 percent of the male respondents asserted they wasted fresh fruits over the period considered, while only 33 percent of female respondents stated the same. Compared to women, male respondents reported higher percentages when it came to waste of food products.
