Policy response rate in Africa amidst COVID-19 2020, by policy type
As of 2020, 167 countries in the world responded to the coronavirus pandemic by drawing policies. In Africa, 88 percent of the countries adopted fiscal and monetary policies, which was the highest share compared to other policies adopted in the region. Moreover, 40 percent of the countries adopting policies in the region took measures concerning jobs and training to better approach the pandemic situation. Furthermore, in the region, only four percent of the policy-adopting countries touched on restarting tourism. Overall, the source demonstrates that fiscal and monetary policies were the most popular across all regions of the world.
