Share of labels producing music by genre in France 2019
Record labels are the companies responsible for the recording, marketing and distribution of recorded music, but also finding new talents to promote. If most of the recorded music is produced by one of the "Big Three" (Warner Music, Universal Music or Sony), some labels remain independent. As of 2019, rock music was the most produced music genre by record labels with a total of 44 percent in France. Electro and jazz music came in second and third place with 34 and 23 percent respectively.
