ED visits change by age in U.S. counties remote from a hurricane 2005-2016
During the analyzed period between 2005 and 2016, the ED visit rate in counties that were remote from a hurricane's path increased by around 11.5 percentage among those aged 65 years and older in the week the hurricane happened, and around 3.4 percent in the first week following the hurricane. The numbers are compared to pre-hurricane injury-related ED visit rates. This statistic illustrates the percent change in emergency department (ED) visits in U.S. counties in the same state of a hurricane 2005-2016, by age group of injury-related treat-and-release patients.
