French women in charge of buying vacuum cleaners in their household 2019, by income
Yet, considering the example of vacuum cleaners, it seems that the distribution of the charge related to the purchase of household appliances tends to be more egalitarian within households in which women women belong to the higher classes. Indeed, about two third (67 percent) of women belonging to upper middle classes were responsible for the purchase of vacuum cleaners in their households, compared to almost 80 percent of women from the lower classes. However, only 68 percent of women from the poorest classes reported having this responsibility.
