A summer of litigation cause Activision Blizzard's value to drop and the company to be relegated to second place with a market cap of nearly 46.98 billion U.S. dollars in October 2021 before bouncing back to 67.06 billion U.S. dollars in April 2023. The company was purchased by Microsoft in January 2022 in one of the biggest video game acquisitions of all time. The company owns five business units: Activision Publishing, Blizzard Entertainment, social gaming brand King, Major League Gaming, and Activision Blizzard Studios. Second-ranked Nintendo had a market cap of 47.8 billion U.S. dollars.
