In the first six months of 2021, Hong Kong MTR's high-speed railway (HSR) generated approximately 651 million Hong Kong dollars. The Hong Kong government invested over ten billion U.S. dollars in this controversial infrastructure. Hong Kong MTR operates the metro services in Hong Kong, one of few public systems in the world which was financially profitable until recently.
