Share of Africa in global gas new discoveries 2011-2018
Africa accounted for roughly 40 percent of the global gas discoveries between 2011 and 2018. Most of the findings (33 percent) were in Sub-Saharan Africa, while eight percent were found in North Africa. In fact, major discoveries were registered in Egypt, Mozambique, Tanzania, Senegal, Mauritania, and South Africa in recent years.
