The monthly carbon intensity of the power sector in Great Britain is typically highest in the cooler months. Since May 2015, the highest carbon intensity was recorded in October 2017. That month, energy sources including coal, CCGT, Biomass and other fossil fuels emitted 415 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour. Since then, Great Britain's carbon intensity has been falling, and in May 2020 dropped to a low of 108 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour.
