In March 2022, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of food and beverages in Libya was at 326.5 points, with 2008 as the base year (=100). This also represented a peak in the period under review, after a steady increment in consumer prices observed from December 2021 onwards.
The CPI refers to the weighted average of a selected basket of goods and services, which reflects the buying habits of average consumers. Thus, it measures changes in prices and the purchasing power of consumers.
