Post-Soviet multiparty system approval in Russia

The share of Russians approving and strongly approving the change to the multiparty system in the country after the collapse of the Soviet Union decreased from 61 percent in spring 1991 to 43 percent in spring 2019. The level of support toward the transition to the market economy was even lower, measured at 38 percent.

In 1991, the question asked: "Overall, do you strongly approve, approve, disapprove or strongly disapprove of efforts to establish a multiparty system in our country?"
