Tanzania: poverty rate 2000-2020

The poverty rate in Tanzania declined to 25.7 percent in 2020, according to estimates considering the national poverty line. Previously, in 2018, the rate was measured at 26.4 percent. According to the source, individuals are defined as poor when they are not able to meet their basic consumption needs. In 2018, the national basic needs poverty line was 49,320 Tanzanian shillings (21.2 U.S. dollars) per adult per month.
