Sources of aid for employment loss due to COVID-19 pandemic in Morocco 2020
One out of five households in Morocco received government aid for job loss due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As of April 2020, most of the Moroccan households received financial aid through the Medical Assistance Regime (RAMED), for workers in the informal sector. The program covered 66.6 percent of the respondents. Moreover, nearly 31 percent of households obtained financial help from the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), aimed at formal sector workers. Furthermore, the source revealed that most of the unemployed, who received aid from the RAMED or their employers, lived in the rural areas, while those who obtained it from the CNSS mainly lived in urban areas.
