The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit the museum sector hard with many institutions across the globe having to close to the public. According to a November 2020 survey, about 67 percent of surveyed museum employees and governance worldwide were concerned about having to reduce public programs due to the health crisis. Meanwhile, roughly 40 percent of the respondents expressed concern about the loss of private funds.
