Organic fruits and vegetables: average price by type of store in France 2020

In 2020, the average price of each of the seven fruits and vegetables examined by the source was generally higher in hypermarkets and supermarkets than in stores specializing in the sale of organic products. The most important difference concerned organic white grapes, whose average price was 63 euro cents higher in supermarkets and hypermarkets.The only exception was the price of organic carrots, which was slightly higher in specialty stores.

The source adds the following information: "The study was forced to stop at the end of October due to containment. Given the lower than expected number of readings, the results presented are those with a margin of error of about 10 percent and are sufficiently clear-cut to be significant.
Prices were collected in three different places of purchase: open-air markets, specialized organic stores and hypermarkets and supermarkets. For each price reading, the type of place of purchase was indicated, as well as the name of the brand and the location of the store."
