Colombia: number of musical orchestras at Barranquilla's Carnival 2020, by event
In 2020, around 200 musical groups participated in the major celebrations of the Carnival of Barranquilla, Colombia. Three groups took part in the inauguration, which is officially called Lectura del Bando. This event usually takes place a couple of weeks before the official Carnival dates and marks the start of the pre-Carnival season. That same year, La Guacherna – the event that opens the official Carnival – was animated by 15 musical orchestras.
