As of April 1, 2020, the outstanding corporate debt in Italy was largely made up of investment grade debt, as opposed to speculative grade debt. This is true for financial as well as non-financial ratings. The total value of financial and non-financial investment grade and speculative grade debt amounted to 335.9 million U.S. dollars. Investment grade debt is rated 'BBB' or higher, while speculative grade is debt is rated 'BB' or lower. The rating scale contains runs from AAA as the highest, down to C as the lowest.
