The largest share of arms imported to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region between 2000 and 2019 was from the United States at about 45 percent. It was followed by Russia as the second largest exporter to the region at a share of about 19 percent. The total value of arms imports to the region in that period exceeded 132.5 billion U.S. dollars.
