Number of grievous injury road accidents in India 2015-2021

In 2021, India witnessed over 126 thousand grievous injury road accidents across the country. This formed 30.6 percent of the total road accidents that occurred in that year. Road accidents have been a major cause for concern across the Indian subcontinent. The southeast Asian country had the highest road accident deaths among 199 countries and accounted for around 11 percent of accident related deaths caused around the world.
