As of 2019, Lombardy, located in the North, was the Italian region with the highest number of crime records. That year, this region registered over 439 thousand reports. Lombardy also has the largest population among the Italian regions, with some 10 million inhabitants. Lazio, in the Center, followed with 265 thousand cases.
