Households savings as share of GDP worldwide 1982-2020
Between 1982 and 2020, households savings fluctuated between 23 and 28 percent of global GDP. In 2020, this figure was almost 0.5 points lower than in the previous year, falling to 25.96 percent. Household savings as a share of GDP peaked prior to the financial crisis of 2008, reaching 27.95 percent in 2007.
