Canadian motor vehicle employment monthly 2010-2020
In early 2020, employment in Canada's motor vehicle manufacturing industry began falling dramatically. The total number of employees in the sector fell to its lowest level in May and June 2020. In June 2020, the sector employed just over 30,000 people. This is around 13,000 people below the previous year's level and represents a drop of about 30 percent year-on-year.
