Annual savings per capita in the eurozone 2017-2022

Gross savings per capita in the euro area decreased significantly in 2022, but they were still significantly higher than in 2019. The biggest variation occurred between 2019, when households in the euro area saved roughly 2,806 euros per capita, and 2020, when that figure reached 4,282 euros per capita. This unprecedented increase is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures implemented to combat it.
