COVID-19: increased use of cleaning products U.S. 2021

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the share of American respondents who stated that they were using hand sanitizer more often has stayed at a constant 72 percent since September 2020. This figure stood at 59 percent in March 2020.

Both the March and September surveys were carried out with 1,005 respondents.

Survey questions for both months slightly differed from each other. The original questions were:
"What hygiene or cleaning products are you using more now than before the spread of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19?" for the September wave.
And:
"What hygiene or cleaning products have you used more of since learning about the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak?" for the March wave.
