Availability of health services in Libya 2021, by facility
As of February 2021, health facilities were not all fully operational in Libya. Private health centers were mostly in operation (70 percent), while less than half of public health centers were completely operational. Only 54 percent of hospitals were entirely working and provided the full range of services. Parts of health sectors that were not fully operational were operating at partial capacity for the most part, with seven, nine, and four percent of each of hospitals, public health centers, and private health centers, respectively, not operating at all. A lack of medicines for chronic diseases was reported in all Libyan municipalities. Moreover, because of the limited functionality of the facilities, not all hospitals in the country could admit patients who required intensive care treatment during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
