France: age of APA beneficiaries

The French institution DREES* put in place the survey "Aide sociale" (Social assistance) to measure, among other social indicators, the autonomy level within the elderly population in France. In December 2018, this survey showed that people aged between 60 and 64 years were the most numerous to benefit from the Personalized Autonomy Allowance. They indeed represented 23 percent of the total beneficiaries of this social and financial assistance.

Results of the survey "Aide sociale" (Social assistance) conducted in December of each year.

The Allocation Personnalisée d'Autonomie (APA) - Personalized Autonomy Allowance in English - is intended for all dependent elderly people or those who have lost their autonomy. Its purpose is to allow them to access the assistance they need to accomplish daily acts (getting around, eating, etc.). It also allows taking care of people who need regular surveillance.
